Job Announcements - Habitat Director Home


The Partnership for the Delaware Estuary, a regional environmental non-profit organization based in Wilmington, Delaware, seeks an individual to oversee the development and implementation of the Delaware Estuary Program's (DELEP) Habitat Plan. Specifically, the Habitat Director will be responsible for:

  • Chairing DELEP's Habitat and Living Resources Advisory Committee, plan and facilitate its meetings and apprise the DELEP and Partnership Directors of progress, problems and opportunities;
  • Assisting in the development and overseeing the implementation of DELEP's Habitat Restoration Implementation Strategy/Plan;
    Taking the lead in developing and gaining program approval for an initial list of priority habitat projects in the Estuary and a process to identify future projects;
  • Overseeing the tracking/mapping of habitat restoration progress in the Estuary
  • Taking the lead to develop and implement an Invasive Species Management Plan for DELEP;
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for habitat restoration related issues;
  • Assisting in the development and preparation of grant proposals;
    Coordinating and providing habitat and living resource data to DELEP's monitoring plan and report and the State of the Estuary Report;
  • Assisting the Partnership's Habitat Coordinator with the development of public outreach materials and the implementation of on-the-ground projects; and
  • Coordinating habitat activities between the Partnership, DELEP's Program Office, and DELEP partners.
Candidates must have strong biological or ecological background, interpersonal and organizational skills, the ability to manage and perform multiple tasks effectively, work independently and meet deadlines. Candidates must have at least a bachelor's degree (and preferably a graduate degree) in environmental science or wildlife management and must have at least three years of related work experience associated with habitat restoration and coastal ecology.
